Compass Rose Wall Clock, 17"diameter, 6/9
Just completed in early September, 2021, this is the 6th Compass Rose Wall Clock in a limited edition series of 9!
This 17" wall clock is inspired by the Compass Rose, a navigational clock from the 1300s. It is a masterpiece in wood, featuring rare figured wood "cut-offs" from other larger furniture projects, and each clock in this series of 9 clocks features a different wood combination. Clock 6/9 includes:
- Imbuia face
- Bloodwood rose
- Satinwood inlay circle
- Bubinga border
- Brass inlay
What is a Compass Rose? The compass rose has appeared on charts and maps since the 1300's when the portolan charts first made their appearance. The term "rose" comes from the figure's compass points resembling the petals of the well-known flower. It is also well-recognized as the symbol of the flag for NATO.
