California Quail live in coveys most seasons of the year. They are quite distinctive, and can often be seen strutting across clearings, nodding their heads with each step. Quail are one of our favorite hand carved birds. This carving is unique with the male quail sitting upon (and attached) to a wall-mounted shelf. His delightful partner, a female quail, is seen below on the wall panel beneath the shelf.

This sculpture features:

  • Body: Myrtlewood
  • Eyes and head: Walnut
  • Quail under the shelf: figured claro walnut
  • Cherry shelf that mounts on the wall.
