Dancing Dragonflies, Lidded Urn
For many people, the dragonfly is a symbol of hope, immortality, and the afterlife. This symbolism is particularly strong in Japan, where in some spiritual ceremonies, dragonflies are thought to be the guides of souls revisiting their families on earth. The three linked dragonflies remind us of the unbroken union of past, present, and future. The lid of this piece is sunk below the rim, giving it more of a vase-like appearance.
