Swanica Fine Mishima Horsehair Ceramics
Award-winning ceramic artist Swanica Ligtenberg has lived in many countries. Born in the Netherlands, she has lived in Switzerland, the USA and Japan. Her extensive travels have created a dialogue between the Eastern and Western ceramic techniques and aesthetics. Her studies at L’Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Geneva, Switzerland, immersed her in the art of drawing, throwing, forming, decorating and glazing ceramics. She loves to work with color and is attracted by the warmth of the clay. Her work shown here is a white stoneware base that has been fumed with a ferric chloride color to create the signature red/orange tonality on her signature Horsehair Raku works.
